Originally designed by Heinrich Koch and the renowned Miklós Ybl, this historic estate serves as a bridge between Hungary’s aristocratic past and its vibrant cultural present. As you walk through its grand halls or look out over the sprawling 50-hectare English-style park, you’ll experience the same elegance that once hosted the Károlyi family for generations.
Upon your arrival, we invite you to step into this timeless atmosphere where you will be greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and a delicate amuse-bouche, specifically prepared to awaken your palate for the afternoon ahead.
The Program
Your experience continues as we transition from the castle’s grandeur to the rustic charm of our Gastro Workshop, located in the estate’s authentic vaulted cellar:
Interior Castle Tour: Before the cooking begins, we take a guided walk through the castle’s restored interiors. You will explore the historic library, the elegant salons, and the chapel, gaining insight into the daily lives of the Hungarian nobility and the meticulous restoration of this architectural gem.Botanical Walk & Inspiration: Before we tie on our aprons, we take a short stroll through the castle grounds and the French-style courtyard. It’s a moment to breathe in the fresh country air and admire the rare tree species that make this park a protected botanical treasure.
The Cooking Workshop: In our professionally equipped cellar kitchen, everyone takes part in the preparation of four traditional Hungarian dishes. You’ll learn the techniques and stories behind these regional favorites in an intimate, hands-on setting.
The Feast: Once the food is ready, the group gathers for a formal sit-down meal to enjoy the dishes you’ve created together, served in the unique atmosphere of the Gastro Workshop.
Pálinka & Wine Tasting: To keep the spirit lively, we offer an “all you can drink” selection of premium Hungarian Pálinka (fruit brandy) and hand-picked Hungarian wines throughout the cooking program.
City tour
DISCOVER THE BEAUTIFUL CITY, BUDAPEST
Budapest sightseeing by bus with an English-speaking tour guide: We take a walk in Buda Castle and admire the breathtaking view from the Fisherman’s Bastion and then from Gellert Hill. After that, we cross over to the Pest side by bus, passing through the Jewish Quarter, visiting Heroes’ Square, and taking a stroll in the City Park, with an external view of Vajdahunyad Castle. On Andrássy Avenue, we admire the palaces, the theatre district, and the Opera House: guided opera visit in English with a mini-concert.
